This weekend we attended the Island Park Festival! We might have had an anxiety ridden night beforehand, but we were excited driving up to sell our products. We had put a lot of effort into them, coming home from our day jobs to eat some quick food and get right to work before falling asleep to start school and work early the next morning.
Although we did our best, changed up our strategy, greeted people to gain their attention, and had much support from our dad and brother (in laws), we had quite the discouraging first go around. After two days of sitting for nine hours, only a handful of our products sold. I think back to a quote from the series The Office, when Ryan, an intern, is doing one of his first sales with Dwight, a more experienced salesman. They end up not making the sale. Ryan tried to find what they did wrong, how they could have done better. Dwight says to him that sometimes there isn’t a lesson to be learned, sometimes there is just failure. Although I don’t personally agree with this entirely, I think there is truth in it. We plan to learn from this experience anyway and are trying to keep heart that we did our best and it’s okay that we did not reach our goals.
We do want to say, though, that every one of the people who came in to buy our products made an impact on us. Their excitement, their personalities, what we learned about them, will not be forgotten or dismissed. We love our customers and love learning about them. Thank you! :)) Again, we are grateful for our customers, thank you for your support!
